Why is the lock released at a fixed UTC time?
Using a fixed UTC time ensures consistent lock handling for all users, regardless of their location. This approach prevents ambiguity caused by local time zones or daylight saving changes.
When exactly is the lock released?
The lock is automatically released at 21:00 UTC each day if the editing session is not ended manually.
Does the lock release depend on my local time zone?
No. The release is always triggered at 21:00 UTC. Your local release time depends on your time zone.
What happens if I forget to unlock the document?
If you close the editor or leave the session open without unlocking, Pergamon automatically releases the lock at the scheduled UTC time so other collaborators can edit the document.
Can collaborators edit the document before the automatic release?
No. Until the session ends or the lock is released automatically, collaborators can view the document but cannot edit it.
How can I make the document available sooner?
To release the lock immediately, click the lock icon and exit the editor using Unlock and leave or Save and leave.
