If a document export or preview doesn’t complete, you may see a timeout error. This usually happens when the system takes longer than expected to generate the document.
InDesign Server timeout
You may see a message similar to:
InDesign Server Timeout
The system could not export the file because the layout engine took longer than expected to respond.
This usually means the layout engine is temporarily busy processing requests.
Fix the issue
Try the following steps:
Wait a few minutes
The system may be under temporary load.
Try again
Export the document again or turn the preview back on.
You do not need to make any changes to your document.
In most cases, the export or preview completes successfully after retrying.
Get help
Contact Pergamon Support if:
The same document continues to fail after several attempts.
The issue lasts longer than 15–30 minutes.
Multiple documents cannot be exported or previewed.
