You can use the AI Writing Assistant in the Pergamon Editor to generate content from pre-filled prompts. The Assistant uses the prompt and any uploaded AI resources to generate relevant content.
This article shows you how to submit a prompt, review the output, and insert the response into your document.
Before you begin
Make sure:
You're working in the Editor with a document assembled through Document Assembly.
AI resources (PDFs or product reference docs) have been uploaded.
You have editing permissions for the document.
Generate Content

Select a content block
Click the checkbox next to the content block that displays the AI Instruction icon.
In the right-side vertical toolbar, click the AI Assistant icon.

Review and submit the prompt

The AI Assistant panel opens with the pre-filled prompt.
- Content ID shows in which content block the response will be inserted into.
- AI Prompt is editable. You can adjust the wording if needed.
- Search the web lets you override uploaded resources and pull information from the web instead.

Click Submit to send the prompt to the assistant.
Warning: If you don't upload AI resources and leave “Search the web” unchecked, the prompt may fail to return a result.

- Review the AI response
- The Assistant returns a content suggestion in the chat panel on the right side. You can either accept it as-is or refine it using follow up prompts.
- To refine it with a follow up prompt, type in your prompt or instruction in the typing field and click Send.
- Examples follow up prompts:
“Compress by 30%.”
“Make it simpler.”
“Change to a list.”
"Make the points succinct without losing the meaning."
- The Assistant returns a content suggestion in the chat panel on the right side. You can either accept it as-is or refine it using follow up prompts.
- Insert the response into your document
- Click Insert to Document to preview the insertion options.
- Click Insert to Document to preview the insertion options.
- Fill in your insertion options:

Choose a formatting style
Style selection for the generated content - Select your insertion location:
- Separate content blocks: Inserts the generated output in separate content blocks as new lines or paragraphs.

Selected content block: Replaces the pre-filled AI prompt with the generated output.

- Click Insert to finalize.
After insertion, the AI-generated content appears in your document using the selected style and structure. The AI Instruction icon is removed once content has been successfully generated and inserted.
If the first AI prompt was issued from a Global (reusable) content block, indicated by the icon, after insertion, the block is converted into a Local content block.
You can continue editing manually or move on to the next content block to generate additional content with the AI Assistant.
