Pergamon uses two types of tokens to power different features in the platform. Each token type supports a unique workflow and ensures predictable usage across your workspace.
This article explains what each token type is, where tokens are consumed, and how they are calculated.
Trial subscriptions include limited Pergami tokens and Create Manual tokens.
Token limits reset only after upgrading to a full subscription.

1. Pergami Tokens
Used for all AI-powered features.
Pergami Tokens are consumed whenever the system performs AI processing, generation, analysis, or translation.
Where Pergamon Tokens are used
1. AI Prompting – 1 token per prompt
When you submit any prompt through the AI Writing Assistant in the Editor, 1 Pergami Token is consumed.
Actions that consume tokens include:
New prompt
Follow up prompts
2. Uploading AI Resources
Uploading files to the AI Resource Library consumes tokens based on file type.
| Resource Type | Tokens Used |
|---|---|
| Image | 1 token |
| Text (PDF, DOCX, TXT, etc.) | 2 tokens |
| Audio | 2 tokens |
| Video | 3 tokens |
Tokens are consumed when the file begins processing. If processing fails, no tokens are deducted.
3. AI Translation (Translate by AI)
Translation token usage is based on the word count of the document being translated.
| Word Count | Tokens Used |
|---|---|
| 1–100 words | 1 token |
| 101–200 words | 2 tokens |
You will always see a confirmation message before tokens are consumed. Translations consume tokens per target language.
2. Manual Creation Tokens
Used for exporting manuals and publications.
User Manual Tokens are separate from Pergami Tokens and are dedicated specifically to document exports.
Where Manual Creation Tokens are used
1. Creating documents using automated document assembly
When you create a document, 1 User Manual Token is consumed.
Viewing or editing your assembled content in the Editor does not consume tokens
How Token Balances Reset
Your token balances refresh based on your subscription plan’s renewal cycle.
You can view remaining tokens anytime in Business Settings → My Tokens.
