The Main Pages are intended to be used only with layouts of type Main. This is the only way to ensure that Main Pages are correctly processed in both Booklet and Leaflet layouts.
Anatomy of Main Pages
The Main Pages document, unlike the Front Page and Back Page, is not made of a fixed number of content blocks. It is designed to be flexible, allowing the user to add, delete, and reorganize content as needed to meet the documentation goals for the product.
There are, however, several characteristics you will notice when working with the Main Pages document:
- It begins with the Table of Contents content block by default.
It is structured using multiple Header 1 sections, which may contain content directly or organize additional information through Header 2 or Header 3 subsections.
- It includes graphical and textual placeholders that must be filled in to customize the document for product-specific requirements.
- It contains preconfigured LLM prompts positioned strategically to improve the accuracy and efficiency of content completion.
Customizing Table of Contents
You can customize the Table of Contents (TOC) in several ways:
Change the TOC title
Convert the content block to Local.
Edit the title directly in the block.
Change the names of TOC entries
Update the corresponding section headers in the document.
The TOC updates automatically based on these header changes.
Change TOC depth (number of levels displayed)
This is controlled by the Script Label. To modify it:
- Select the Table of Contents content block.
- Open Content Attributes and go to the Styles section.
- Change the value of the Script Label according to the depth you want to display:
- GENERATE_TOC_LEVEL_1 – Show only sections using Header 1.
- GENERATE_TOC_LEVEL_2 – Show sections using Header 1 and Header 2.
- GENERATE_TOC_LEVEL_3 – Show sections using Header 1, Header 2, and Header 3.
Remove the Table of Contents entirely
If the document does not require a Table of Contents, you can simply delete the content block. The layout will adjust accordingly.
Restrictions
The following elements of the TOC cannot be customized:
Displaying Header 4 or Header 5 sections
Changing the TOC location
Allowing main text to begin immediately after the TOC (main content always starts on the next page)
• The Table of Contents is used only in the Booklet format. Even if your target layout is Leaflet, keep the Table of Contents block to maintain compatibility if you later switch to Booklet.
• Do not set the Script Label to any value other than the supported ones. Using an unsupported value will prevent the Table of Contents from generating.
• Keep the Table of Contents as the first content block in the document.
Automated Unordered List Formatting for Signal Words
Pergamon automatically applies unordered list formatting to Signal Word content during export when specific structural conditions are met. This helps ensure safety messages are presented in a clear, standardized format across all supported layouts.
Signal Words include:
Danger
Warning
Caution
Notice
When unordered list formatting is applied
Formatting occurs when:
The header uses the correct Signal Word style

There are multiple consecutive body paragraphs
