When you assemble a document in Pergamon, the Editor displays some or most of the content blocks as Global. Global content is locked for editing by default to preserve content integrity and prevent unintended changes.
To edit global content, you must convert the content block from Global to Local. Once converted, the block becomes editable.
Learn how global and local content works. See the Understanding global content, local content, and content blocks article.
Before you begin
- Ensure the content block is not restricted from conversion.
- If conversion is restricted, the steps below will not apply.
Unlock a global content block using keyboard shortcuts
Select the content block you want to unlock by checking the box on the left side of the block.
Use the keyboard shortcut for your operating system:
Keyboard shortcuts
- Mac: Shift + Command + L
- Windows: Shift + Control + L
The block converts to Local and becomes editable.
If the block cannot be converted, the shortcut will have no effect.
Unlock a global content block using the Content attributes panel
Select the content block by checking the box on the left.
Open the Content Attributes panel on the right side of the Editor.
Under Attributes → General → Type, change the value from Global to Local.
The block is now unlocked and can be edited like any other local content block.
Troubleshooting
Cannot convert a global content block
Cause
The content block may have restrictions that prevent conversion to Local.
What to do
- Check if the block is restricted by hovering over the globe icon and read the tooltip text.
- If conversion is not allowed, the content cannot be edited.
- If needed, remove the block (if deletion is allowed) and replace it with editable content.
