Asset Annotation Editor BETA

The Asset Annotation Editor was introduced in Beta in version 3.9.0. Version 3.10.0 expands the editor with Callout Presets, new annotation tools, and canvas controls, incorporating feedback collected from Beta users.

Callout Presets

Select from pre-configured presets in the editor to apply consistent annotation styles across your assets. Read the docs →

• Choose a preset from the Preset dropdown in the editor.
• Customize the preset and save it as your default.
• Presets are available in both Blueprints and Documents.
• When assembling and exporting a Document, the assigned preset in the Blueprint carries over automatically.

New tools

• Elbow — L-shaped leader line that auto-inserts one bend. 
• Scribble — freehand drawing tool for informal markup.

Canvas and layout

• Rotate text frames, shapes, and callouts using on-canvas handles or the Rotation slider. 
• Group and ungroup annotations (Cmd/Ctrl + G / Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + G).

• Manage layer order - bring to front, send to back, or drag to reorder.

• Pan with Space + drag or middle-mouse drag. 
• Fit to Window zoom; minimum zoom reduced to 5%.
• New right toolbar for quick access to file operations, alignment, grouping, and clear all. 
  

Styling and units

• Arrow waypoints - add and remove bends on placed arrows and elbow leaders. 
• Outline styles for arrows; dashed and dash-dot border styles for shapes. 
• Roman numeral numbering (i, ii, iii) for callouts. 
• Units per category (px, pt, mm) with saved preferences and configurable DPI.

Selection

• Alt + click toggles annotations in and out of selection. 
• Marquee selection with Alt + drag adds to an existing selection without replacing it. Selecting a single annotation automatically switches the properties panel to its settings tab. 
• Alignment tools for two or more selected annotations - align left, centre, right, top, middle, bottom.
• X/Y position inputs for precise single-annotation placement.

Improvements

• Assembly — questionnaire answer nodes now use chevron icons for parent nodes and radio buttons for leaf nodes, replacing the previous checkbox style.
• Source Conversion Mode now applies when manually inserting Content, in addition to Topics.
• LLM reference files BETA — Support for spreadsheet formats as AI resource files: csv, tsv, xls, xlsx, and xlsm. 
• Document handling BETA — Support for csv, tsv, xls, xlsx, and xlsm file extensions in document handling.
• Translation Projects now auto-close when all jobs are finished. Open and Closed status is shown, and the "Refresh TP jobs" button is hidden for closed projects.
• Track Changes includes a new "Export failed" status, with stored InDesign error details visible directly in the Track Changes panel.

Bug fixes

• Leading and trailing spaces are now preserved in the editor display, API endpoints, and XML export.
• Table handling: deleted cells from JSON are now handled correctly on save; merged-but-missing cells are parsed correctly; no false warning shown on empty table cells.
• Global assets: child tags are now included when removing a global asset.
• Assembly (Questionnaire) export is now allowed when both Blueprint cost and token cost are 0.
• User rights are now removed when the corresponding item is deleted.
• Asset usage cache now updates correctly when a document contains no data.
• Fixed broken download links for logs in Admin / System settings after save.

Click Refresh when prompted to load the latest updates. Check your version from the top-right profile menu.
